Got this on my Facebook feed. I think it deserves some exposure.
It doesn't get any better than what this Grundy Center player (white jersey) did on Friday night!!
Just before this powerful moment, one of Wapsie's key players had collapsed on the field and was rushed off in an ambulance after suffering a traumatic head injury. This left many Wapsie players (and a few on Grundy Center) visibly shaken and even some in tears during the final plays of the game.
Despite the fact that his team had just lost in dramatic fashion this Grundy Center player immediately approached his opponent once the final horn sounded and hugged him without any hesitation. It was a truly remarkable sight and one I have not seen in my 15 years of photographing high school sports!
Someone tag these players and PLEASE share this image so that this small act of kindness receives the attention it deserves! Kudos to this Grundy Center player for demonstrating why there is more to football than just wins and losses!
